Smash Palmanyola #8 Tournament Report
AndresFn, Migre, Dornet, and TiToPinha invade the biggest tournament of the year
The Smash Palmanyola #8 was supposed to be just another tournament at the Salón de Actos of the Entidad Local Menor de Palmanyola. However, against all odds, we ended up with a turnout unseen in Mallorca for over a year, with 37 participants. Alongside the usual Mallorca locals, we were joined by two Germans who happened to be passing through, the semi-retired local top players Maus and Charlie... and some very special guests.

In addition to Migre, a well-known content creator who has been part of the Smash Bros. Mallorca community for many years, YouTubers Dornet and TiToPinha, as well as top player AndresFn, decided to pay us a visit and compete in a tournament that generated plenty of excitement, attracting over 1,000 viewers on the Smash Bros. Mallorca Twitch channel.

JoseL VS AndresFn.
AndresFn, the Surprise Guest
Registration had already closed and the bracket had been set, but with the Spanish top player who has taken the shotos to the pinnacle of European Smash visiting the island, Smash Bros. Mallorca made an exceptional decision to allow new players to sign up for an additional four hours. The opportunity was seized not only by AndresFn, but also by several other players, including the talented Maus, who was more than ready to defend Mallorca's honour against the invading player from Toledo.

And then, the tournament finally got underway. The early rounds progressed without too many surprises, with no particularly notable upsets. Things started getting interesting with JoseL's unexpected victory over Andreurams in Winners Round 3. Having lost to this player's Pikachu on numerous occasions, the Ken main wasn't exactly thrilled about the previous day's bracket change, as the last thing he wanted was to have to face Andreurams once again. However, despite having little faith in his chances of winning, he managed to pull off a 2-1 victory and send his opponent to losers.

Duroman21 VS Dornet.
Another surprise came from Dornet, a popular Catalan gaming YouTuber, who managed to defeat Duroman21 2-1, the tournament's 4th seed and winner of the island's previous major event. Migre and Pinha (a Galician gaming YouTuber), meanwhile, failed to make it past their opening matches, losing 2-0 to Ramonium and Maus, respectively.

Meanwhile, Amerlín also eliminated Jotan (2-0), while Mr.Z pulled off an upset against PinkAplier with a convincing 2-0 victory, further cementing his recent improvement and his growing ambitions to reach the top spots in the Smash Bros. Mallorca rankings.

As expected, AndresFn made his way through the bracket with no troubles, steamrolling all his opponents without dropping a single game. This included a victory over Mallorcan player JoseL in Winners Quarters, where his shotos stood no chance against Europe's leading expert on these characters, resulting in a 3-0 defeat. In the same round, YouTuber Dornet fell to Ramonium (3-1) in a set where the Galician player caught the Mallorcan Toon Link off guard. Meanwhile, Maus defeated Amerlín (3-1), and Charlie convincingly beat Mr.Z (3-0), reminding us that, despite being retired, the former second-best Samus player in Spain remains one of the toughest opponents in Mallorca.

A Tough Tournament Packed with Talent
It wasn't simply a matter of having 37 participants: most of Mallorca's top players were in attendance, alongside some highly skilled guests who also took part in the tournament. As a result, losers bracket was an absolute bloodbath, with several of Mallorca's most prominent competitors failing to make it into the top 8. In Losers Round 3, Duroman21 ended Kanelo's run (2-0), Kamuida did the same to Enriquetx (2-0), Zetsubing pulled off an upset against Ganonhorse (2-0), and our guest Pinha brought KeyAdri's tournament run to an end (2-1).

In the following round, still relatively early in the bracket, several big names began to fall. The charismatic Migre managed to take down Duroman21 much earlier than expected (2-0) in an absolute spectacle of a matchup between Captain Falcon and Sephiroth. Meanwhile, a determined Pinha also defeated Jotan (2-1), one of the island's most prominent Smash players.
The matches to secure a place in the losers-side top 8 were also incredibly intense, featuring sets that, under different circumstances, would have taken place in the later stages of almost any other Mallorcan tournament. Migre suffered a convincing defeat at the hands of Amerlín (3-0), while Andreurams, who had managed to win a tournament just a few months earlier, was also defeated by Mr.Z (3-1). This victory firmly established Mr.Z as one of Mallorca's top players. PinkAplier also sent JoseL packing (3-2) in a nail-biting set, while Dornet faced his fellow YouTuber Pinha. With his 3-2 victory, Dornet secured the first top 8 finish of his competitive career.
The top 8 was now set. Of the visiting players, only Dornet and AndresFn remained in the competition, and the latter, as you already know, was the undisputed favourite to take home the tournament title.
Top 8: The Best That Mallorcan Smash Can Bring Us
In the Winners Semifinal, Ramonium had to face AndresFn. Expecting a quick and predictable 3-0, the veteran Toon Link main stepped up his game, pulling off some impressive plays and even managing to take a game off Europe's best shoto player. Nevertheless, as expected, the player from Toledo came out on top, securing a 3-1 victory and booking his place in the Winners Final.
The other semifinal saw Maus and Charlie, two of Mallorca's titans, go head-to-head. The local community was counting on them to potentially take down the seemingly unstoppable AndresFn. Although the Samus player put on quite a show, the Kazuya main came out on top, defeating his opponent with a convincing 3-0.
Meanwhile, over in losers, Amerlín defeated Mr.Z (3-1), reminding us that, despite his inconsistent attendance, he remains one of the island's top competitors. PinkAplier also brought Dornet's run at Smash Palmanyola #8 to an end with a convincing 3-0 victory.

Amerlín made it all the way to Ramonium, defeating him convincingly (3-1), while Charlie did the same to PinkAplier (3-1). Both matchups have become classics in the later stages of Mallorca's competitive scene.
Maus VS Charlie.
Charlie was determined to face Maus once again, so, as usual, he proved himself to be better than almost every other competitor, eliminating Amerlín with a crushing 3-0 victory. However, despite his lack of attendance at in-person tournaments, the Kazuya main still plays regularly and is clearly in top form. He therefore repeated the 3-0 victory against his opponent in the Losers Final, eager to earn another shot at the legendary AndresFn.

Grand Finals: AndresFn Takes the Crown, but Maus Shows What He's Made Of
The highly anticipated Grand Finals matchup between AndresFn and Maus generated quite a buzz. There's no denying that AndresFn is not only the biggest Spanish-speaking Smash content creator, but also Spain's second-best player, Europe's best shoto player, and an overall world-class competitor. But... Maus had plenty to say for himself.
The Kazuya main has been dominating the Mallorcan scene with relative ease in recent times. He has proven not only that he is the best player in the country with his character, but also that he can take down almost any Spanish opponent, as he demonstrated at Duro Games 21, where he convincingly defeated Pepo and ElSantoGTZ, two highly regarded competitors on the national scene.

The match got underway amid considerable tension and excitement. As he often does in Mallorca, Maus started the set like a steamroller, taking the first game. However, AndresFn adapted almost immediately, showcasing his extraordinary skill by responding with a 3-stock victory, complete with a shield break to finish things off.
Despite this, Maus refused to be intimidated. After a tense game, the Mallorcan player closed out the third game in barely a minute, taking the score to 2-1.
The fourth game was a closely contested affair, but AndresFn came out on top, forcing a deciding fifth game. The player from Toledo held his nerve, and although Maus managed to adapt well to the "invader's" playstyle, he couldn't force a bracket reset. AndresFn reminded everyone why he is one of Europe's best players, closing out the set 3-2 and claiming the Smash Palmanyola #8 title without dropping a single set.

See you in the next tournament!
